Celebrity Chefs appeared to have happy marriage, but it was a facade

Some marriages appear to be happy and they really are.  But there are some marriages that hit rocky patches and never recover.  Gina Neely filed for divorce from her husband, Pat Neely, after the two had been together for 20 years.  The two claim that there were “irreconcible differences” that led to their split, which is tragic after two decades as a couple.

The two celebrity chefs from Memphis are regulars on The Food Network’s “Down Home with the Neelys,” a popular show about cooking.  The two are also the authors of a best-selling book: “Back Home with the Neelys: Comfort Food from our Southern Kitchen to Yours.”

The two shut down their restaurant in Memphis so that they could do other things.  Gina did a George Foreman Weight Loss Challenge and also launched a line of Green Giant foods.  Pat was working with Family Dollar to teach families how to shop on a budget.  They have kept their involvement with a barbecue restaurant in New York City, which is working out for the two of them financially.

Here’s what they said in a statement about their split:

“Today we announce that we are ending our marriage of 20 years for irreconcilable differences. This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us. As parents of two beautiful adult daughters that we love dearly, we will continue to be involved in each other’s lives as parents and friends. Together we have built a strong brand as The Neely’s . Moving forward our focus will be on our individual brands and we are optimistic about our respective futures. We ask for your prayers as we go through this transition and honor our request for privacy at this time.”

I think there must be something in the water. My predictions for future splits are: Oprah and Stedman, Peter Thomas and Cynthia Bailey, T.D. Jakes and Sarita, Wendy Williams and Kevin, Omar Epps and Keisha.

I hate that they are getting divorced, however many marriages look good to those on the outside looking in.

    Marriage takes work, PERIOD!

I wish them both the best, because this is a private that affect them directly and not us outsiders looking in.

I don’t care who you are,how famous that you are, individuals go through things in life, so a marriage can be an extension of individual issues, we have to take care of “us” before we can manage”we”…relationships, marriages can be challenging but rewarding as,well, in the case of the Neelys entertainment might have brewed up a few issues, but I respect them for sharing their divorce with the viewers and fans and I wish them the best!

All your comments are well stated. However, consider how this couple seemed to go out of their way to exaggerate all this ‘sugar & spice” and everything nice about their marriage. At some point it just seem to be fallacious and disingenuous. We all appreciate those couples who (especially after many years) are able to keep the

honey’ in the honeymoon, …. but didn’t you see right through all that ‘kissy kissy, mushy mush while trying to make a dish’? As someone who definitely believes in marriage and is a bit of a romanticist , too, it’s refreshing to see couples with the longevity exemplifying love in their relationship. But if you are acting like making whoopi
in the kitchen, How much whoopi are you really making in the bedroom. Well, as U can C, it’s a rhetorical question. Okkkkkkkk! At least they are being civil about it. They deserve credit for that. Right guys.
And their money is not funny.

Everything about them to me seemed fake from the beginning. You could almost tell that there was something not right. She would slide in little comments here and there too. This is not news to me. God’s will for them.
