Some marriages appear to be happy and they really are. But there are some marriages that hit rocky patches and never recover. Gina Neely filed for divorce from her husband, Pat Neely, after the two had been together for 20 years. The two claim that there were “irreconcible differences” that led to their split, which is tragic after two decades as a couple.
The two celebrity chefs from Memphis are regulars on The Food Network’s “Down Home with the Neelys,” a popular show about cooking. The two are also the authors of a best-selling book: “Back Home with the Neelys: Comfort Food from our Southern Kitchen to Yours.”
The two shut down their restaurant in Memphis so that they could do other things. Gina did a George Foreman Weight Loss Challenge and also launched a line of Green Giant foods. Pat was working with Family Dollar to teach families how to shop on a budget. They have kept their involvement with a barbecue restaurant in New York City, which is working out for the two of them financially.
Here’s what they said in a statement about their split:
“Today we announce that we are ending our marriage of 20 years for irreconcilable differences. This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us. As parents of two beautiful adult daughters that we love dearly, we will continue to be involved in each other’s lives as parents and friends. Together we have built a strong brand as The Neely’s . Moving forward our focus will be on our individual brands and we are optimistic about our respective futures. We ask for your prayers as we go through this transition and honor our request for privacy at this time.”
